J.C. Developmental Editing

About Me

Heya!
My name is Justin C., or J.C. for short.
I'm a freelance developmental editor currently focused on fantasy and romantasy, particularly slow-burn narratives and character-driven stories that explore complex emotional themes.I'm also open to select projects in other genres that align with my strengths in structure, pacing, and character development.

Disclaimer

I work within fantasy and romantasy; however, I do not accept erotica or manuscripts where explicit sexual content is the central focus.I primarily work with manuscripts between the ranges of 70,000 - 100,000 words. If your manuscript falls outside these ranges, feel free to reach out. Depending on the project and length, I may still consider it.

My critique style

If you are looking for hollow praise then I am not the editor for you.
My goal is to ultimately help you bring out the best of your story, which oftentimes requires me to give it to you straight.
I provide clear, direct feedback that identifies what is / isn't working, explain why, and offer practical revision paths so you can confidently improve your manuscript without losing your voice.
